VEGAN FRIENDLY FOOD OPTIONS

1. BALISABI POKE BOWL BAR

This restaurant has the best poke bowls I’ve ever had! Located on the main road of Jl. Danau Tamblingan, this warm and friendly place has a “create your own bowls” menu where you mark off the items you want in your bowl, wrap or burrito. Vegan items are clearly labelled and the crispy tempeh is the best! A regular bowl is perfect to fill you up.

2. OVER THE MOON CAFE

Situated at the very northern end of Jl. Danau Tamblingan, this modern restaurant has the best vegan iced coffee you will find. A perfect co-working space with power plugs at many tables, I saw people meeting up with their friends and watching shows together on their iPads, digital nomads working on their laptops, families having lunch and solo travellers like myself sitting down for a nice drink in aircon. It has a really great vibe and everything is very clean. Vegan options include chia puddings, banh mi, fries, chocolate cake, tempeh rice bowl and Thai red curry.

3. LILLA PANTAI

This beautiful restaurant is located on the beach path of Sanur, down the southern end. Half the tables are on the beach and half are inside. So you can choose where you want to sit. They have a few marked vegan options including a Vegan Nasi Campur which was delicious. Their coconut juice comes out in cold coconuts so are perfect for hot days. Animals are allowed inside the restaurant so you will see random dogs walking through but that’s just normal for Asia and warms your soul as an animal lover 🙂

5. KOOD

I wish I found this place sooner! It’s a fully vegan restaurant with very cheap food. Unfortunately it’s a little bit out of the way, located on the other side of the highway so you’ll need a Grab, GOJEK or bicycle to get there. Or it’s a 17 minute walk from Jl. Danau Tamblingan depending where you begin. Their bowl of vegan noodles are only 16,000 IDR (that’s $1.60 AUD, $1 USD, $1 EUR). They also sell vegan burgers, pizza, salads, sandwiches, Icecream, banana bread and desserts!

6. LITTLE MARS

A lovely little restaurant with aircon at the southern end of Sanur. Staff are fluent in English and they treat you like family, making sure everything is ok. They understand what vegan means and the food is very tasty. The vibe inside is nice and relaxing.
