Vegan Food Guide to Phong Nha Vietnam

Phong Nha is a beautiful village in central Vietnam that has a wide variety of vegan friendly restaurants with many overlooking the unique river and mountains.

Spend a few days there exploring the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Visit the caves around the area including Phong Nha Cave, Dark Cave and Paradise Cave. Hire a bicycle and cycle around the area. And check out the Best Things to do in Phong Nha post too!

Phong Nha has an expansive range of vegan and vegetarian food including pizza, spring rolls, iced coffee, scrambled tofu, pho, Vietnamese pancake, hotpot, noodles and fried rice.

Eating vegan in Vietnam is easy. Check out the Vegan Food Guides for Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Da Nang, Sapa and Hanoi! And Kota Kinabalu if you’re travelling to Borneo!

If you’re wondering where to eat vegan in Phong Nha (and Dong Hoi), check out the Top 7 places below! They all have English menus. It was one of the easiest places for me to eat vegan in Vietnam.

1. PHONG NHA VEGAN

Located on the main road, overlooking the river, this restaurant has the friendliest and kindest staff ever! Their food is really tasty and you must order the iced coconut coffee. If you go between 4pm-5pm, I always saw the community cows and their calves walking past.

Highlights: Iced coconut coffee (it was amazing!! I may have had 4 or 5 ahaha), Fried spring rolls, fried rice with veg

2. PHONG NHA COFFEE STATION

A sister cafe to Phin Coffee in Hoi An, this restaurant has plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. Iced coffee is amazing too!

Highlights: Iced blended coconut coffee and the vegan plate which was scrambled tofu, avocado and tomato.

3. THE VILLAS RESTAURANT

Located out the front of Victory Road Villas, this restaurant has a great view of the mountains and river and friendly staff.

Highlights: Vegetable Pizza with no cheese

4. PHONG NHA COCO RIVERSIDE HOMESTAY

View from the restaurant

This beautiful place is where I stayed in Phong Nha and they have a restaurant on the ground floor.

Highlights: Fried rice with veg (ask for no egg),

5. DARK CAVE RESTAURANT

Adjacent to the adventurous Dark Cave, I went here on my group tour to Paradise Cave and the tour guide understood what vegan meant and relayed it to this restaurant.

Highlights: Veg Spring Rolls, Rice, Cabbage, Soup.

6. ARECA BUNGALOWS RESTAURANT

This cute place has a great view over the river and the “adventure capital” sign. The owners are incredibly kind.

Highlights: Fried rice with veg (ask for no egg)

7. SOPHIE HOMY (near Dong Hoi train station)

The owner, her name is Ha, is the friendliest person ever, speaks English fluently and understands what vegan is exactly. If you disembark at the train station, head straight here and she will help you with everything!

Highlights: Veg spring rolls, fruit platter.….
