Secret Beach on Nusa Ceningan is a secluded hidden gem that is tucked away on the southwestern coast of this tiny island in Indonesia.
Connected by a yellow suspension bridge to Nusa Lembongan (which you can get to by fast boat from Bali!), this island is quieter and more off the beaten path with a lot less people.
All of the blog posts and information I found online before I visited were old and the instructions were now wrong so I went for a very big out of the way loop trying to find the Secret Beach! Even the signs on the island that tell you where to go are wrong so here is a comprehensive detailed step by step guide for you on how to get to the Secret Beach on Nusa Ceningan and not get lost like I did!
As of June 2023, there is no hotel, no restaurants and no toilets at the Secret Beach. So bring your own food and drinks. Maybe even grab a takeaway from restaurants listed on my Vegan Food Guide to Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Ceningan!
HOW TO GET TO THE SECRET BEACH

Let’s start with a map first. You must follow the green line. Google maps will tell you to follow the red line, signs along the red line road will say yes you’re on the right path to finding the beach but you definitely aren’t haha. So please follow the green line. Let’s continue!

When you get to the intersection of Jl. Sarang Burung near Two Raksa Cafe on Google Maps, turn left where the yellow hand is pointing on the image below. Do not go straight ahead.

Then you’ll start heading up this hill. It’s very uneven, rocks and potholes everywhere so if you’re riding a motorcycle and not confident, please be very careful as it would be easy to crash on this road.

Continue along this road.

Until you get to this intersection that has a small white sign and in faded writing it says “Secret Beach”. Turn right where the sign is.

Walk down the path for about 10 minutes through banana trees, cows and tropical plants.

The path will start going downwards where you’ll get a beautiful view of the water you’re heading to.

You’ll then hit the end where there are two paths, left and right. Turn right to get to the beach.

You’ll be able to see the beautiful blue water and the Secret Beach from here.

Now walk straight ahead, down the big boulder cut outs that we are going to call stairs.

The “Stairs” haha

Then here is the beach!

The waves on this beach are really powerful and strong so it’s NOT a beach I would recommend swimming at. There are large rocks near the shore. The sand is very soft though and there are places to sit on grass where you can chill and breathe and watch the beautiful waves in peaceful serenity. I had the beach to myself for over 45 minutes until a family came down the stairs.
There are bins located on the grass area (not sure who cleans them up?) and I saw there were piles of plastic and ocean rubbish that people had picked up from the beach, like plastic water bottles, thongs/flip flops, rope from boats etc. It’s good that random people are cleaning the beach so if you visit here please contribute to picking up any plastic or rubbish you see that may have washed up on the beach.
